5 Digital Marketing Trends for 2020

With a new decade approaching and technology changing at a rapid pace, here are just a few current marketing trends that will continue to grow and expand in 2020.

Voice Search

Voice search is all set to be one of the biggest online marketing trends in 2020. And here’s why -66.4 million people, or over a quarter of adults in the US, already own a smart speaker. So25% of the US population is regularly using a device like an Amazon Echo or Google Home. And furthermore, 31 % of smartphone users worldwide use a voice-activated search like Siri, at least once a week. And it’s predicted that in 2020 50% of all searches will be voice searches. So this is the time to optimize your dealership’s website for voice search. One of the most important factors is using longtail keywords rather than shorter keywords.

AR and VR Immersive Technology

Virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) is not only immensely popular but are fast becoming one of the top marketing trends. It’s likely AR will surpass VR over the next few years. Companies like IKEA are taking advantage of the AR technology to allow customers to see how a piece of furniture will look in their own homes before purchasing.

Be Social! Interactive Content is in!

91% of buyers are now seeking interactive content, and so shoppable posts, quizzes, video, AR/VR, and polls are just some examples of interactive content that will be huge trends in 2020. Interactive content is interesting and involves the user, giving them a reason to stay on the page. It’s also shareable (who hasn’t shared a quiz like ‘what kind of spirit animal are you?’) a fun way to interact, and a great opportunity for marketing your products.

Get Personal!

Consumers no longer want to see generic ads, they’re annoying and usually not useful or relevant. How many of us change the channel (or just DVR a show) to avoid being forced to sit through commercials? Traditional advertising is no longer effective and personalized marketing is now expected. In a survey 80% of people said they’re more likely to do business with a company that uses personalized experiences. As a business you can use segmented email lists as a way to personalize your online marketing strategy for example, and there are many tools to help you with this, including Mailchimp, Constant Contact, Hubspot, and Pardot.

Social Messaging Apps

Social media apps such as WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, and WeChat, are becoming popular ways for companies to communicate with customers and not just for messaging friends. Each month Facebook Messenger reports over 10 billion messages between individuals and businesses. Customers enjoy the convenience of having direct contact with companies and the personalized marketing experience. Businesses can use messaging apps in various ways, including inviting people to events, providing customer support, and educating people about their services and/or products.
