As one of the most amazing luxury sports cars on the planet, the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG is also one of the most expensive cars on the market today, especially from Mercedes- Benz, making it hard for anyone except the supremely wealthy to afford to own, maintain and fuel. In a response to the grumblings of those who wanted to enjoy the Mercedes-Benz AMG performance and power, Mercedes-Benz promised a new GT version would be unleashed in the spring of 2015 as part of the 2016 model year. The new 2016 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT S model will show up at a price point of $130,825, which to most of us doesn’t seem affordable, but for a crowd that was considering the AMG SLS model this price will almost seem like a steal compared to the SLS price tag. The GT is only the second sports car developed entirely in house at Mercedes-Benz and offers a 503 horsepower 4.0-liter twin-turbo AMG V8 engine mated to a seven-speed AMG speedShift DCT automatic transmission. This amazing car comes in equipped a long list of great standard features, which most of which wouldn’t even touch optional feature on many other models.
To offer amazing performance this car has everything you can imagine. An AMG Adaptive Suspension with AMG 3-Stage ESP, staggered-size 19-inch front/20-inch rear alloy wheels. With all this power and performance aboard, the GT comes with a host of safety features to enjoy as well including eight airbags, Collision Prevention Assist Plus, Adaptive Braking and LED headlights. This is all in place to help keep the owners who are spending this large sum of money in place and secure along the roads.
Of course this wouldn’t be a Mercedes-Benz unless it was full of great creature comforts as well and the GT has them in spades. These comforts include Nappa leather upholstery, power heated AMG performance seats with memory, a full command telematics package, a premium Burmester Surround Sound System, a rearview camera and Parktronic. With more comfort and style aboard at a more reasonable price the GT makes a fantastic car for anyone who is willing to shell out the dough to pay for this fantastic luxury sports car.
When this GT comes out in the spring it will be considered the base model for the Mercedes-Benz AMG S models. It seems almost strange to call this a base model with all the amazing performance and power inside this great car, but it will be just that when it is available in the spring. Regardless of what it is considered, for many of us we will be seeing the car as one that is highly attractive and a very enticing to watch as it passes by.
