When an automaker of a super exotic car offers a new model up for sale, the number of buyers can vary. For the Bugatti Veyron the production time took ten years before they sold out, but at the price that was asked (well over $2 million) buyers were not putting in orders every day for this ultra-exclusive and exotic car. For the Porsche 918 the production run of the limited model was somewhat shorter and the price much lower at under $1 million for this car. The McLaren 675LT Spider might have just set a record for the sale of a super exotic car.
The McLaren 675LT is a supercar coup that showed up at the Geneva Motor Show for this year. this car is powered by a strong 3.8-liter twin turbocharged V8 engine that produces 666 horsepower and 516 lb.-ft. of torque. For the Spider the overall weight comes in at 2,800 pounds while the coupe shows up at 88 pounds less. This gives us a super sports car that has massive power and a light weight to be a car that we can enjoy on any track to see what else shows up to challenge this beauty.
It would certainly take a lot to challenge this car as it will reach sixty mph in less than 2.9 seconds and offers a top speed of 203 mph. This car even gives you a full 18 mpg from the fuel tank making it easier to run more laps than a typical car would. Add in the exceptional handling and awesome suspension and there are very few cars on the market that will be able challenge the 675LT on the track or on the road, which is certainly a great selling point.
That selling point resonated so loudly that the car has already sold out. Not a single one has left the factory and within two weeks of the car being offered for sale this car has sold out all 500 units. It could be the low price (comparatively) of $372,600 that brought in the sales, or it could be the stellar reputation of the coupe. The coupe sold out in two months, but it seems buyers who missed out on the coupe were not going to wait and be passed by for the Spider, making sure they got their orders in right away.
The deliveries of this awesome car will begin in the summer of 2016 which makes for a continued delay for those who already ordered the car. The will be another of the amazing super cars to come out of McLaren and give us a show that we certainly won’t forget. This amazing sell out speed makes it difficult for you to be able to buy a 675LT Spider if you actually wanted one for yourself. I guess those of us waiting to have the cash to buy one will have to wait until the next version or when some of these 500 go on the auction block in a few years.
