2017 Nissan Titan: A New Version of the Truck You Trust

11.15.16 - Nissan Titan

It seems like eons ago that the first Nissan Titan made its way onto the market to be a new half-ton pickup for us to make use of and admire. For the first few years this truck offered the performance and power we wanted to enjoy, but without upgrades or a new generation for so long the Nissan Titan became an also-ran truck that found its way to the bottom of the truck lineup and ended up being a model that was mostly forgotten by most of the world, but certainly not by Nissan.

Now that we have a brand new model and the right new generation from Nissan for 2017 we can see that there is a real plan to make this truck formidable on the market once again. This truck will be offered with many configuration varieties in a similar way that other trucks are offered with multiple engines, powertrains, cabs and beds along with a range of trim levels to go from the basic work truck to one that’s nearly a luxury model on the market for us to admire and enjoy the capabilities of the right sized truck for the job.

What Nissan does have over the competition is the offering of a warranty that covers the truck for five years/100,000 miles. This is a bumper to bumper warranty and not one that covers only the powertrain as we’ve seen in other models. This may still cause the Titan to have an uphill battle, but this is a truck that has been admired in the past and with the right menu of features and engines, it will once again be one of the most admired trucks on the road, giving us another great option to consider when we need the right vehicle for the power and work that has to get done.

The warranty isn’t the only admirable feature of this truck. The new Titan will have a damped tailgate to give you the benefit of a slow opening tailgate that won’t slam down on you or on itself. This item can be closed easily enough and shows us one way that Nissan has found a way to add a feature that no other truck has to offer us at the moment. This feature can help you avoid sudden jerking motions that happen when opening a tailgate that’s under pressure of the cargo from within the bed of the truck.

For now we only have one engine offered on this new Titan, but there will be more in the future. This one engine is a 5.6-liter V8 that brings you 390 horsepower and 394 lb.-ft. of torque. this engine is able to be connected to a seven-speed automatic transmission and can be setup with either 2WD or 4WD to give you the ride you want to enjoy. The towing capacity of this beast is 9,390 pounds with the 2WD models and 9,230 for the 4WD versions while the fuel mileage comes in at 15 city/21 hwy mpg for the Titan.

There are five trim levels to begin the transformation for you to enjoy being able to choose items for your drive. These trims are S, SV, PRO-4X, SL and Platinum Reserve. With the S model you can enjoy cruise control, air conditioning, power windows, a rear sliding window, a six-speaker audio system, a five-inch infotainment display, Bluetooth connectivity and a USB port. Moving up to the SV you can have front bucket seats, a trailer sway control, power adjustable mirrors, improved cloth seats, SiriusXM satellite radio and chrome accents.

While the Nissan Titan isn’t all the way to what you want it to be with multiple engines, this truck is on its way by finally offering us a new generation to make sure we can stay interested. You can certainly head over to your Nissan dealer and see what the new Titan has that will make a difference in your driving enjoyment and the work you can get done at your jobsite. Let this truck be the one that shows you want a truck should be and when Nissan gives us more engine and all the configurations to enjoy, you can trade yours in on a new model that has everything you want and need.
