05.15.17 - First-Aid Kit

You know you’re going on a road trip this summer when you head out on vacation and you want to enjoy the drive and the travels you’re making in your Toyota vehicle that’s perfect for you to enjoy the ride. Even if you don’t choose a vehicle from a Toyota dealer you should have the following items with you on the road so that if you do run into some type of trouble you have the safety and emergency items you need. It’s always good to be prepared on the road for any potential emergency that may arise.

Check these items off your list and have a great road trip with items you hopefully won’t have to use, but will be glad you brought if you do need to use them:

Storage Box and Cell Phone – When it comes to emergency supplies, you want them to be in one place so that you’re not searching all over the vehicle to have the item you need at the time. Any box, basket or container will work to keep your items in and allow them to be in a neat and tidy place. Your cell phone and charger should be with you at all times and a portable battery is a good idea as well if you have one.

Food, First-Aid Kit and Reflective Blanket – Food that won’t go bad in heat or cold needs to be in your kit. These are items such as peanuts, almonds, beef jerky or other energy food. A good first-aid kit should always be in your car so that you have the ability to handle emergencies that could happen. The reflective blanket is made to help keep you warmer on cold nights and can act as a raincoat if you have to walk in foul weather.

Basic Tool Set and Fuses – The tools you should keep in your vehicle include items such as piers, a cutting knife, wrenches, screwdrivers, a tire pressure gauge, jumper cables, duct tape, road flares, a crank powered flashlight and a microfiber towel. If you have a few fuses as well, you might be able to avoid the need to be towed to a nearby shop for something that you can fix in only a few minutes on the side of the road. Keep these items in your car; they won’t take up much space at all.

Spare Tire and Water – This is part of owning a car, you need to know if your vehicle has a spare tire or if it only comes with a sealing kit. If you don’t have one, you need to get one and a full size spare on a full size wheel can make a huge difference in the enjoyment of your vehicle. This will allow you to continue to drive when you have a flat and not turn a flat tire into a time consuming emergency. The water is important to help keep you hydrated in case you end up stranded and broken down.

Automotive Grade Tape – Duct tape is excellent for a variety of ways to fix the vehicle and is one of the most important all-purpose items on the market today. Keep some of this in your car and you’ll be able to fix something for a short period of time until a proper repair can be completed. This will be the item that will feel like it saves the day when you’re on the road and you have the need to put something back together quickly so that you can tape up a hose and be able to keep on driving until you find a repair shop.
