The Ford brand has been trusted for a variety of pursuit and police vehicles that are used for any of the different activities that police need to participate in on a regular basis. There is now a new addition to the market that could be the next vehicle to chase down those that choose to break the law on a regular basis or even occasionally. This new model is made to add to the different interceptor models from Ford that are used for the purpose of chases that can happen when criminals try to run.
F-150 Police Responder
This new vehicle is a new version of the Ford F-150. The various police forces around the country have used F-150 models in the past for the purpose of other activities and not for pursuits. Now the new Ford F-150 Police Responder model is one that can help officers who use this vehicle on the road or out on the trails have the ability to chase down those that are attempting to evade capture by the police. This new truck can handle the extended high-speed driving without overheating, reducing braking performance or running into any other mechanical issues that have slowed this vehicle in the past.
What does the new Ford F-150 Police Responder offer to allow officers to have this capability? This new model is offered with the 3.5-liter twin turbocharged EcoBoost V6 engine that brings in 375 horsepower and 470 lb.-ft. of torque, which is the same engine used in the Expedition pursuit model as well. The top speed of this truck is limited to 100 mph, but that should be more than enough for officers to capture those on the run. This engine is attached to a ten-speed automatic transmission while also using part-time 4WD with the low range transfer case installed in this impressive truck.
Hot Pursuit
Of course, if pursuits were limited to the roads, the F-150 wouldn’t need to be rated for this purpose. Since this truck will likely be used on the areas that aren’t paved most of the time, the Police Responder F-150 model is equipped with the FX4 off road package. This package adds the benefit of locking rear differentials, skid plates and off road tuned shocks. There is also a stiffer front anti-roll bar that is specific to this truck that brings in upgraded brake calipers to handle the heat and used reformulated brake pads.
There is also an aluminum wheel and all-terrain tire package that’s offered which is exclusive to this police truck. The reason these wheels, which are lighter and not as rugged as normal police vehicles, were approved is because of the thicker tires. There is a 240-amp alternator fitted to this truck, a set of redesigned cloth seats, steel plates in the seat backs and a column-mounted shifter.
These are the qualities that police officers need and can enjoy on this new truck when this vehicle is added to the lineup of police vehicles used on the roads in the area you live in. Now that the F-150 can pursue those that are trying to evade capture, the police force has the ability to handle more challenges that can take place off the paved roads.
