We’ve seen the small Honda bikes that are used on the tight streets and alleys in Japan that are offered by Honda and other Japanese manufacturers, but we don’t normally see these little bikes make their way to the US market.
With more city dwellers that want to be able to use their own mode of transportation than in the past, the call for these small motorized bikes are making a comeback in the US and Honda has a pair of them that will be offered for the future of driving around cities.
The two that will come back to the US are the retro models of the Super Cub and the Monkey that have a signature appearance and can be the right small bikes for you to have the ride you need around town. These two models are going to be offered for the 2019 model year and give us small and active riding that’s easy to enjoy and shows up with a style that reminds us of the bikes we’ve seen around the streets in Asia for many years. Both will be able to give us something special when we want a small and easy drive.
What Will These Two Bikes Feature?
Both of the two Honda bikes will use the same 125cc air-cooled four-stroke single-cylinder motor that’s been used in the Grom. The Monkey will have a four-speed manual transmission for the drive while the Super Cub will have a four-speed semi-automatic transmission for the drive. This layout is the same as the original versions that used single-cylinder engines but the engines offered for the new models are certainly an upgrade over the older models that we saw in the past. These two new engines make use of fuel injection and an electric ignition to offer modern qualities for the drive.
When you see the Monkey, you’re going to notice it looks a lot like the Grom with a retro scrambler styling for us to enjoy the drive. The Monkey is expected to arrive at dealers in October and cost nearly $4,000 while offering you ABS that will add about $200 to the overall cost of the bike. This price could make the Monkey the right small bike for you to have the fun and ride you’re looking for when you head out on the roads and want to ride around on the small streets in the city.
The Super Cub is a bike that will offer you a smaller size and come to you with the look that you’ve admired for years as a retro bike that can be fun to drive. This model is one that nearly anyone can enjoy when they take to the streets because of the automatic transmission. This new model is a bike that’s somewhere between a scooter and a motorcycle to be the bike you may want and it will cost you around $3,600 to have this model as the right one for you on the roads you travel.
