When you’re looking for the fastest cars in the world, you’re going to see cars that cost a lot of money, but that might not matter to you.
Talking speed will take you to some of the boutique European models offered that can be collected and enjoyed by some of the small sports car manufacturers that you admire. With that in mind, here are the five fastest cars in the world.
Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+
Bugatti took the speed limiter off of the Chiron and took the Super Sport 300+ to a speed that’s more than 300 miles per hour on the track. This was the first car to break that mark with a final record speed of 304.773 mph with Andy Wallace being the wheel. Only thirty of these models are being made to give you a quad-turbo design with 16-cylinders of power from the W-shaped engine.
Hennessey Venom F5
Hennessey Performance Engineering used to own the top spot with the Venom F5, but now, it’s slipped to second. The Hennessey team claims this car has a top speed of 301 mph which would be a lot faster than the next fastest car on this list. The Venom F5 uses a carbon fiber chassis and a 7.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 to produce 1,600 horsepower and create the speed you’re after.
SSC Tuatara
One of the only American models you’ll see in any list of fast cars is the SSC Tuatara. This amazing car claims a top speed of 300 mph, but that speed hasn’t been verified just yet. With a 5.9-liter flat-pane engine that can make 1,750 horsepower on E85 fuel, you would think this car might reach beyond that mark. Hopefully, SSC will give us the true numbers soon, but for now, it’s third in the list with a theoretical speed of 300 mph.
Koenigsegg Agera RS
Until Bugatti took the Chiron Super Sport 300+ to the track, the Koenigsegg Agera RS was the verified top speed car in the market. This car proved itself with a top speed of 278 mph, which is lightning fast. The test run was performed on an 11-mile stretch of road just outside of Las Vegas to perform two high-speed runs on this long road that had been closed off for the event.
Bugatti Veyron Super Sport
Yes, Bugatti holds two spots on this list and both have been verified. The Veyron Super Sport can reach a top speed of 268 mph to give you the amazing sprint speed that you’re looking for. This car brings you 1,200 horsepower and a long list of aerodynamic improvements that help it reach the incredible speed recorded.
Keep dreaming and keep watching some of the fastest cars in the world. Most of us will never get to drive them or spend any time around them, but we can certainly admire what they bring to the market and follow along when a new top speed record is reached by some of the small racing manufacturers that give us a few road cars for serious fun.
