Will Chevrolet Pull the Trax?

Chevrolet Trax

The Chevrolet Trax has been a popular subcompact crossover SUV since it first hit the road in 2013. Even with its name recognition and high sales numbers, there’s a rumor that Chevy is going to stop the production of this small SUV.

Every Beginning Has an End

As of right now, the Chevrolet Trax is still available fresh off of the lot or as a pre-owned option. It looks like the 2023 model will be the last one produced. It’s not that the Trax is a poorly performing vehicle or that drivers don’t love its impeccable style and amazing reliability.

Chevy often treats its various automobiles like a comedian treats their set: always leave the audience wanting more. That is to say that it’s better to leave while you’re on top than to wait until you’re on the bottom. The Trax will be ten years old for its last production year, which is a lifetime in the ever-changing automobile market.

It Will Soon Be Electric Everything

One of the most significant reasons Chevy is pulling the plug on the Trax is to make room for new electric vehicles. EVs have really taken off in the last couple of years, so it’s a mad dash for automakers to release new and improved EV models every year.

Thanks to Chevy’s new Ultium battery design, this American auto-producer is looking to make a run at owning the electric vehicle market. The Ultium drive technology is the most advanced EV tech around. That means it will help you go farther, faster, and with more power than the competition.

The Trax Isn’t Alone

The Chevrolet Trax isn’t the only vehicle that’s nearing its end. The Buick Encore is also rumored to be in its last year of production in 2023 as well. Even the Chevy Bolt EV and Chevy Bolt EUV are coming to an end in 2023 and 2024.

All of these highly-desired vehicles are going to be replaced by even more powerful EVs with Ultium tech under the hood. When you consider how incredible the Chevrolet Trax or Bolt EVs, or the Buick Encore are, the vehicles that are going to replace them must be something especially amazing.

Grab a Chevrolet Trax While You Can

For drivers who will miss the Trax after its departure from the production line, there’s still time to grab a new model. Just because Chevy is going to focus on bigger and better things doesn’t mean it’s going to forget about the current Trax.

Chevy will certainly start simplifying its future Trax offerings, but the style, performance, and convenience features aren’t going anywhere. If you’re in the market for a subcompact SUV to help you zip around town, consider grabbing a Chevrolet Trax before it’s gone for good.
