In a video featuring the Elantra N, Hyundai explores a scenario nearly as horrifying as getting a travel-size toothbrush and toothpaste in your trick-or-treat bag.
Track or Treat!
After giving viewers an appropriate content warning, we find our female protagonist lounging in bed on All Hallows Eve. It’s 10:31 p.m., so while the little ghosts and goblins have come and gone, the horrors might be just getting started.
With a nod to modern horror classics, we look in on the young woman through her night vision video surveillance system. Suddenly, we jump-cut to her sitting up in bed, her smartphone summoning her attention.
Track or Treat! It’s an invitation to a Halloween Drive. The night is young—and so is our heroine! She’s all in. All our girl needs are her outside clothes and her key fob. No problem, right?
But of course, this is the night of all nights, where the weather can be perfectly calm and still the power goes out. With no working lights in the house, our protagonist makes her way through the house with the aid of her illuminated smartphone.
The World’s Creepiest Housemates
Our heroine finds her way downstairs, blissfully unaware of the Rogue’s Gallery of killer creeps who have taken up residence throughout the house.
As the young woman grabs her sweatshirt from a nearby chair, we discover a murderous doll looking like she just fed off her victim. We then encounter a dangling, decapitated “Elf on the Shelf” lookalike and a haunted portrait propped against the window at the top of the stairs. As the young woman passes by, the young boy in the portrait follows her with his eyes.
Down the creaky stairs, our heroine is ever closer to finding her key to freedom. But more obstacles await. She pulls a curtain…is it the veil between the living and the dead? It’s a Mike Myers-like psycho-killer! But the girl hardly seems to notice he’s there, much less that he’s following her.
The young woman finds her key fob right where she dropped it on the kitchen counter. But before she can get to her Hyundai Elantra N, not only does she have to escape the evil clutches of Mike Myers’ long-lost brother, we discover a female spirit who looks eerily similar to our main character. Our heroine tip-toes by the ghost, but all we see in the security footage is the creaky empty rocking chair.
Quelle Horreur!
At last! Our young protagonist finds her way out of the house of horrors to the safety of the well-lit driveway. A friendly calico cat crosses her path as she heads to her getaway car; a sign that safety—and fun—are oh, so close.
We all breathe a sigh of relief as she slides behind the wheel and starts the Elantra. FREEDO…
What stops our heroine in her tracks? Is it another killer hiding in the Hyundai Elantra N?
No, it’s worse.
MUCH worse.
It’s an empty fuel tank.
As the woman discovers her horrible fate and lets out a blood-curling scream, the psycho-killer spirits stare at her through the window, wondering what her problem is.
We love this mini horror movie from Hyundai and hope your HalloweeN was filled with treats and maybe a fun trick or two!
