The Jeep Wrangler recently hit the SEMA Aftermarket Show with a new three-row concept called the Overlook. This stretched version of the Wrangler is about a foot longer than the usual four-door model, and it includes a raised roof in the rear and an extra row of seats.
Overlook Concept
The Overlook concept Wrangler is similar to what was done with the Land Rover Defender. The additional row of seats sits beneath a stepped roofline that is five inches higher than the original Wrangler. The Overlook concept starts with a four-door Wrangler Sahara model and then stretches the body a foot and raises the roof in the rear by five inches. This extra room allows for a third row of seats as well as additional windows to see out in the very rear of the vehicle. The roof is still removable, and it features a custom one-piece Freedom Top with a flip-up sunroof over the front seats. The rear part of the roof is also made in a safari style with extra windows all the way around and ample headroom for the third row.
What’s Inside and Outside?
The inside of the Wrangler Overlook features black Katzkin leather with bronze trimming and accents throughout. Suede trim also adds extra class to the interior ambiance. Outside, the Overlook is painted in Sahara Bronze and features a JPP two-inch lift kit with Fox shocks. Unique Black Rhino York 20-inch wheels are paired with 37-inch BFGoodrich all-terrain tires, and the front features additional JPP five-inch LED off-road lights mounted on the cowl. JPP black tubular side steps are installed with molded inserts to add traction.
As the SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) show is mainly focused on aftermarket accessories, it’s no surprise that the Overlook is decked out in several.
Future of the Jeep Wrangler Overlook
It’s not likely that this interesting concept will go into full production anytime soon. However, there’s no doubt that there would likely be a decent market for a three-row Jeep Wrangler if they decided to make one. The Jeep brand recently launched three different three-row models with the Grand Cherokee L, the Wagoneer, and the Grand Wagoneer. These SUVs are the brand’s first three-row models in a decade. Three-row SUVs are extremely popular with families, so it’s not hard to believe that the ever-popular Wrangler would find a strong market with people who like the Wrangler’s looks but need three rows.
It remains to be seen whether the Overlook will find a place in the Jeep model lineup or if it’s just a fun concept to look at.
