2017 Cadillac CTS: Power in the Luxury Segment

10.28.16 - 2017 Cadillac CTS

Cadillac has a habit of being an amazing performer in the market of luxury vehicles, especially since they basically remade their entire look and feel. The CTS has served several purposes for Cadillac and now that the brand has the CT6 as the flagship model the CTS can settle in and be what it’s supposed to be; an amazing performance luxury car that makes all others question their own position in the luxury market.

The CTS has been touted as one of the most powerful midsized luxury sedans in the world, especially when you take a look at the CTS-V which uses an engine sourced from the Chevrolet Corvette. This gives the CTS-V a power that hasn’t been experienced in this class of vehicle in the past. While you enjoy this exceptional power you can still sit back and revel in the fact the CTS is bathed in Cadillac luxury to give you the features you want to enjoy when you drive and the beauty of the angular design and vertical headlights that invite you into one of the most comfortable and supportive interiors in the automotive world. It’s really no surprise the CTS is so admired by all and has left others chasing its tail for dominance in the market.

The CTS uses similar equipment to the smaller ATS, but offers more space for passengers and equipment to fit inside the car. This car is agile and capable on any road and when the CTS-V is the choice you make you have a car that will show off at the track in a huge way. One of the ways Cadillac makes their vehicles better than any other is the use of the Magnetic Ride Control suspension system which allows the car to be smooth on any road and offer the confidence you want to have when you step in behind the wheel of this amazing car.

Starting with the standard offerings you’ll find the CTS offers you a rearview camera, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, an eleven-speaker Bose premium sound system, three USB ports, push button starting, wireless phone charging, dual zone climate controls, voice command, an upgraded CUE infotainment system, and the OnStar system with the 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot to make this a car you can stay connected in.

Looking to the options of the CTS you can have a navigation system, leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, a variety of wood grains and metal trims, adaptive cruise control, an LCD gauge cluster, a sunroof, tri-zone automatic climate controls, a glove box mounted CD player, a suite of driver assistance features and much more. These optional features ensure you can have the car you want at the price you’re willing to pay.

Speaking of price, the CTS starts out at $46,600 which is a great price to begin with for this type of luxury sedan. Of course there are several upgrades and choices you can make before you reach the CTS-V-Sport which starts at $70,000 and the CTS-V makes its way to the price of $87,000. Yes, you pay more for performance, but this is a car that will still make you feel like you’ve gotten a great deal on a fantastic car.

Since we know the prices and options we need to see what the engines will give you. The base engine is a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder which you swear is too small, but the 268 horsepower and 295 lb.-ft. of torque will delight you. The next engine in the lineup is a 3.6-liter V6 which is good for 335 horsepower and 285 lb.-ft. of torque while the third engine is found in the V-Sport which is set up in RWD only and adds twin turbochargers to the V6 to give you 420 horsepower and 430 lb.-ft. of torque.

At the top of the lineup you find the CTS-V which makes full use of a massive 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine that offers up 640 horsepower and 630 lb.-ft. of torque. All engines use an eight-speed automatic transmission and all but the V-Sport are able to drive in both RWD and AWD to give you the ride you want to enjoy.

Large luxury isn’t a thing of the past and you can have a ton of performance as well. All you have to do is stop by your Cadillac dealer and tell them you want to drive the Cadillac CTS. Once you do, you’ll have the car you want and the power and comfort you deserve.
