Lookout Midsized Truck World

It’s a great thing that GM finally decided to reenter the midsized truck market. The entire segment was becoming extremely stale and the automakers didn’t seem to care too much. The trucks that were still part of the market when GM left for a short few years were still being made with very few updates once GM came back with two of the best midsized trucks we could ever see. This resurgence by the Canyon and Colorado has created a market where the other brands in the market are working toward new and improved models because theirs just don’t stack up anymore. (more…)

What is a “sleeper”? In most cases this is a person or a product that ends up giving a performance that greatly outdoes the expectations of the market or industry. In the automotive industry there are many sleepers that look like they might do well, but little is actually expected of them. What happens when these sleepers start to become the leaders in sales and on the market, the manufacturer has to scramble to keep up with the demand, but certainly is able to be giddy about the unexpected success of one of their products. One of the missing pieces, when the Colorado and Canyon came back to the GM lineup, was a diesel powered version. Both trucks immediately made a huge impact on the marketplace and gave us vehicles that are stellar at being midsized workhorses capable of heading out to the off road territories when called upon to do so, but the diesel was not offered right away.
