What Sets the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV Apart?

What Sets the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV Apart?

Drivers looking into trucks for sale want vehicles capable of getting the job done. The 2024 Chevy Silverado EV certainly fits the bill.

Top Scores in Fast-Charging, Range, and More

For most drivers interested in EV trucks for sale, there are several barriers to adoption. Chevrolet has significantly reduced two of the most significant ones. The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV boasts a greater range and faster charging time than nearly any other EV.

Chevy Silverado EV Beats Fast-Charging Record

According to Car and Driver, the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV isn’t just the fastest-charging of the electric trucks for sale. Its fast-charging rates beat out every other EV they’ve tested.

Car and Driver’s fast-charge test always works the same way. Each vehicle tested begins with a 10% state of charge (SOC). The Silverado EV’s charge rate rose above 200 kW quickly and peaked at 315 kW in under five minutes.

Much of the reason the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV performs so well in this arena is that it features GM’s new Ultium battery with a unique setup. Ultium batteries operate at 400 volts but have the ability to switch between parallel and series connections for 800 volt charging.

The end result is that the Silverado EV can sustain triple-digit charging rates for nearly its entire charging time of 58 minutes.

The Silverado EV Also Outdoes Itself on Range

While it doesn’t achieve a first-place position on Car and Driver’s range tests, the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV boasts over 400 miles of real-world range, impressive for its 8,800 lb curb weight.

The organization range-tests vehicles at 75 mph highway speeds. Only two of the vehicles it has tested can compare, and neither achieved more than 410 miles of range.

In this case, the Ultium battery powering the Chevrolet Silverado EV explains only part of the picture. The Hummer EV features the same 205 kWh battery pack, but Chevy’s electric truck beats it in range by 110 miles. Exceptional design also comes into play.

Slightly Less Impressive Acceleration

While the Silverado EV outperforms its competitors in range and battery charging speeds, its acceleration is good but not exceptional. In “Wide Open Watt” (WOW) mode, the electric truck unleashes the full power of its 754 hp motors to reach 60 mph in 4.1 seconds.

That’s not bad for a truck the size of the Silverado EV, and it’s better than the ICE version. Equipped with a 6.2L V8, the regular Silverado takes 5.4 seconds to reach 60 mph.

Most buyers are more interested in its 10,000-lb towing capacity, 1,440-lb max payload capacity, and impressive hp and torque ratings. In tow/haul mode, the Silverado EV boasts 515 hp and 600 lb-ft of torque.

Where to Find These EV Trucks for Sale

Drivers interested in electric trucks for sale can learn more about the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV from their local Chevrolet dealers. This first-ever all-electric Silverado is currently available and shipping to dealerships across the country.
