Word from Starman

There’s no doubt that Tesla CEO, Elon Musk will work hard to capitalize on the publicity and the attention that his recent launch will gain. As part of his space program, the SpaceX Falcon Heavy Rocket launched from the Earth a couple days ago and was sent hurling toward Mars to prove that space travel to Mars and back can be done in a timely manner that would move toward the next stage of what Musk has planned for this program. This rocket took off and had a special payload on board for us to admire and be entertained. (more…)

Big Money and Big Moves for FCA

For the past few years, FCA has been the automotive group that we’ve looked at as missing out on the profits and the success that have been enjoyed by some of the other automakers in the industry. As a direct competitor in the US with Ford and GM, FCA is looked at as the third of the Detroit Big Three to make it one that has to be able to compete. When you look at what FCA offers for the driving experience, you might think they are having troubles financially, and that was true until the past couple of years. (more…)

The Murky World of Self-Driving Cars (Part 1)

As we look to the future and know that cars will eventually be able to drive themselves, the actual application of this quality isn’t nearly as simple as turning over technology to machines as the humans did in the movie Wall-E. Hopefully, we don’t ever get to the point of being that dependent upon machines but the future of seeing cars drive themselves is being brought to us as a romantic feeling of being cared for on our way to and from work every day in order to have the comfort and relaxation we want. Before this can happen, there are a number of questions that will have to be answered. (more…)

Not Your Typical Off Roader

When you think of the vehicle you want to take out on the trails in your area to have fun and know you’re going to be able to handle the challenges faced, often you won’t think of a Fiat 500 to get the job done. While the 500 lineups have expanded over the years and the largest model in the group, the Fiat 500X, is offered with more capability, this is still a vehicle that is difficult to see out on the trails unless you choose one of the top two trim offerings of this vehicle. Is Uber Ready to do Things the Right Way?

Over the history of our country it’s been well-known those that make the most waves and challenge the way things are currently done end up being villains of the time but become heroes of the history books. Imagine the founding fathers of our country and the fact they were committing treason in the actions they took against the Crown at the time of the Revolutionary War. The idea to abolish slavery in the middle of the 1800s, the organization of labor forces in the early part of the 1900s and the addition of right for women to vote have all been fought for by fighting against the way things have been done in the past. Another Car We Want to Drive

Whether we need to relax the regulations that are in place for the automotive industry or automakers need to make sure every car they make can be offered in the US, something needs to be done. There are too many great cars on the market today that never get to be sold or driven in the US for the reasons of power, pollution and adherence to the safety standards that our regulatory bodies seem to think are necessary. We miss out on so many great cars it almost seems unfair for the country that has so much space and room to drive to not have the absolute best driving cars in the world. (more…)

Other Large Cities May Need to Get on the Los Angeles Bandwagon

Over the history of Los Angeles this city has both been a gorgeous place of growth and development in Southern California and been a smog riddled pollution zone that trapped heat and made it hard to breath. The smog and the pollution mostly came from factories and from vehicles being driven in this area where it seemed more people were headed to live and make a life for themselves. Since the turn of the century, the officials in California, especially in Los Angeles, have worked to create a way to reduce the air pollution of this city and create a better quality of life for residents. Succumbing to the Pressure

In the automotive market, there are often cars that are built as a reaction to the pressure from the competition. When one automaker builds a style of vehicle the rest have to follow, especially if the trend is successful on the first vehicle. Soon we see an entire market change toward this new style of vehicle that’s no longer new but a successful and impressive class of vehicle. This was certainly the case as SUVs began to get smaller and that part of the market hasn’t even reached its peak yet, but there’s another part of the market that’s changing and more automakers are getting on board than ever; the hot hatch.
