BMW has been working on the X2, we know this because spy shots have been shared on many different automotive websites, but they chose to bring a concept model of the new X2 to the Paris Motor Show to give us a look at what will be their next luxury compact crossover model. This SUV came in bathed in a red-orange paint with gray cladding on the sides to give it a dramatic look and the appearance of an SUV up front and a sports coupe in the back to make the X2 ad combination vehicle that you want to pay close attention to. Volkswagen Shows off the Concept Version of the New Beetle

That’s what most have chosen to call this new concept car because the Volkswagen download file is titled “Beetle” but there hasn’t been an official announcement of the name. The simple reality is that this new concept car will be the first vehicle built on the new Modular Electric Platform from Volkswagen called MEB. This car showed up at the Paris Auto Show to give the beleaguered brand a new drive and a new direction to change the course of their own history. Volkswagen is so excited by this new model they’ve said it will revolutionize the industry in the same way the Beetle actually did over seventy years ago. (more…)

We have seen many varieties of vehicles on the market and with the move toward smaller SUVs that are closer in size to the wagon and sedans we’re used to driving we now see SUVs that are being turned into sports cars, or at least a derivative of the sports car market. The Porsche Macan is built on a sports car platform, by a sports car brand to be an SUV that offers you the space you want in a taller vehicle but the capability of a Porsche sports car. This blend is exactly what we want in the market and with Porsche having the first one they are well ahead of Jaguar with the F-Pace and Maserati with the Levante. (more…)

This is getting a bit ridiculous? European automakers have for years left out the US when it comes to some of their models, usually because of the stricter regulations that have to be met to be offered on our roads. It seems that cars which are smaller wouldn’t have a problem functioning in the US, but Audi has a car that once again won’t be offered to the North American market. This should come as no real surprise since the stablemates aren’t either. This new model is the RS1 and it is expected to be sold in Europe starting in 2018. (more…)

BMW is determined to redefine the classifications we’re used to for vehicles. Whatever happened to the days when you had sports cars, trucks, vans, cars and SUVs? Now ever category appears to have numerous sub-categories causing some confusion and avoiding any form of direct competition among the vehicles offered. The BMW X3 is a great example of what the brand is attempting to do to the market. This isn’t an SUV or even a CUV, it’s an SAV which stands for Sport Activity Vehicle and is probably the right name for what the X3 happens to be. (more…)
