Some areas of the country are finally beginning to thaw out and we look forward to the budding of spring foliage and the activities that will take place that signifies that spring is here and that we’re moving toward summer. There are more companies than ever working toward bringing electric cars to the market. One company that has made its name in another market is Dyson, which is a company that’s committed to building an electric car for the future. When it came to vacuum cleaners, the Dyson team has made serious waves with their high-end premium bagless models that make it possible for us to clean our floors and carpets with the right models. With this in mind, we can expect the EV models from Dyson to be higher priced but built with an incredible level of quality. (more…)

Get Where You Want to Go More Easily

When was the last time you used the GPS function on your phone? Most of us use this feature often and when we stick close to home, as long as there’s good wireless coverage, we can easily get where we need to. If you’re likely to roam the roads and take a trip on a regular basis, you might consider an alternative method of navigation. If you don’t have a navigation service in your vehicle, and you’re going to travel away from home, a dedicated GPS system could be exactly what you need. (more…)

Hyundai is Looking for an Edge

Hyundai has officially entered into the running to create solid-state batteries. The field may be crowded, but we like their odds. The race to develop the solid-state batteries for vehicles is a heated one with many automakers working hard to create them. Right now, Toyota, Honda, Fisker, Nissan, BMW, and Volkswagen are all aiming to develop these batteries for the EV models they sell and Hyundai has joined the race. By partnering and investing in a company that’s based in Massachusetts, Hyundai is hoping to have these batteries form Ionic Materials in the near future to add them to the new EV models they’ve been working on, hopefully ahead of the rest of the crowd. A Serious New Hyundai Sub-Brand

We’ve heard that the i30N, part of the new N sub-brand being offered from Hyundai will be the first model offered with new badging and performance items, but it won’t be offered in the US. What we will have is a performance version of the Veloster after we see the new model of this car as it shows up at the shows this year, which started with the Consumer Electronics Show that has already begun. If this was where the N brand would stop, then this would be a sad and extremely short tale. (more…)

The Hyundai SUVs are Coming

There’s no doubt that the commitment to the future of driving is centered around the small and active SUV models like those from Hyundai, that can be enjoyed on a daily basis. The SUV segment has outsold the sedan market for two years in a row so far, and it now offers us more options of what you want for the drive on the road. There are now more choices for the vehicles that fit five people, have a small cargo area, and the driving dynamics of a car than there have ever been. (more…)

Lexus Is The First Place of Autonomy for Toyota

It shouldn’t come as any surprise to you that Toyota will choose to put autonomous technology in the Lexus brand before it trickles down to the vehicles that wear the Toyota badge like the Camry or Corolla. This follows along the same lines of other brands we’ve seen, but, for the most part, only from brands that don’t have a mainstream arm to go along with the luxury models offered. Adding autonomy at higher levels makes more sense because the higher price and expectation of the Lexus brand makes it the right place to start and build on what we’ll see in the future. (more…)

The Murky World of Self-Driving Cars (Part 2)

We are heading toward a world where cars will eventually be able to drive themselves and that frightens some people and excites others. There are many questions regarding the possibility of turning over the controls of a vehicle to the computers and systems that are offered to handle the work involved in getting you where you need to go. We can romanticize about what it will be like to ride in a car and not have to pay attention to the road, but that seems to be a long ways off with more questions than answers; here are some of those questions: (more…)
