What’s Next for the Chevy Camaro?

Chevrolet Camaro

For over 50 years, the iconic Chevrolet Camaro has thrilled drivers with its power, performance, and muscle-car design. The current generation arrived in 2016, and as much as drivers love this sports car, its reign will end in 2023 as a 2024 model.

There is some exciting news for this final model year, however, as it will get a special edition package and a proper send-off.

The 2024 Chevrolet Camaro

While it’s been announced that the 2024 Camaro will offer a farewell special edition package before it goes away, the details are still to come. It will most likely be available for all the trim levels and include special features and badging inside and out.

The 2022 Chevrolet Camaro

The current model Camaro is 2022. It comes as a coupe and convertible body style, both providing excellent handling and a thrill for drivers behind the wheel. Even the base turbo four-cylinder engine delivers quick and powerful performance, and with 275 horsepower, its’ far from slow, but the power goes up from there. A bump up to the 3.6-liter V-6 gets you 335 horsepower, and if this isn’t enough, the available 6.2-liter V-8 delivers 455 horsepower. At the top of the lineup, the ZL1 supercharges the V-8 to get a track-worthy 650 horsepower.

More About the ZL1

The Camaro ZL1 is the trim to choose if you want the fastest straight-line speed and the best handling, although you can’t miss any of the lower trims either. The ZL1 starts with the supercharged engine, has wider performance tires, and adaptive suspension dampers with Magnetic Ride Control. It also changes out the regular exhaust for an adjustable performance exhaust. Inside, there are Recaro front bucket seats with the bolstering to keep you in place as you test out this sports car’s capabilities.

Current Chevrolet Camaro Performance Packages

Chevy makes it easy to upgrade and customize your Camaro with performance and option packages. The Heavy-Duty Cooling and Brake Package for the 1LT, 2LT, and the 3LT comes with an external engine oil cooler and Brembo front brakes. If you want to head to the track, the SS 1LE Track Performance Package for the SS will get you the ZL1 upgrades but without the supercharged engine. There’s even a package to add to the already punchy ZL1 model. The ZL1 1LE Extreme Performance Package adds an upgraded suspension, even wider tires, additional aerodynamic bodywork, and a carbon fiber spoiler.

The 2023 Chevrolet Camaro

The 2023 Chevrolet Camaro will go into production in June of 2022. It won’t have a lot of changes, but there are some rumors that it will get the same 6.2-liter V-8 LT’ gas engine as the Corvette Stingray. This updated engine will replace the current lineup’s 6.2-liter V-8 LT1 engine.

With over 50 years of history, the Chevrolet Camaro is an icon that won’t really ever go away. It will continue to provide muscle car lovers with years of thrills behind the wheel, they’ll just have to take advantage of the farewell special edition coming out next year.
