What’s New For Ford in 2022?

2022 looks like it will be an exciting year for every Ford dealer across the country. From some new models finally hitting the road to some unexpected upgrades and announcements across the board. Whether you’re looking to make a purchase from your local Ford dealer, or you just like staying up to date with the automotive industry, here are some things to look for in 2022.

Say Goodbye To Some Old Favorites

To make room for some incredible new offerings, Ford had to make the tough decision to stop production on a few models. While not every model disappearing from the new car sales floor will be entirely missed, it’s always a shame to see a vehicle get cut from the assembly line.

The first cut is the Ford EcoSport. This small hatchback seemed to have potential, but it never got to really find its stride. Ford fans also have to say goodbye to the Ford F-150 diesel. With the addition of a hybrid engine, a diesel engine didn’t really have a place on the sales floor. With all of the other enhancements to the F-150, it’s unlikely your Ford dealer will have a hard time selling plenty of models this year.

New Models Coming To Life

There are a few newcomers to the Ford lineup this year. Some of them “technically” made their debut in 2021, but many haven’t hit their full stride just yet. In other cases, the vehicle was made available for purchase and pre-order with hopes it would be ready this year.

Ford Maverick

The Maverick is a small pickup truck based on the Escape. It can be equipped with a hybrid engine or an available turbo engine that helps it tow a max of 4,000 pounds.

Ford Lightning

Ford’s first electric pickup truck made quite the splash when reservations opened up in 2021. This beast can go between 230 and 300 miles on a single charge, depending on the battery pack. It also has a zero to 60 mph time of a mere 4.4 seconds.

Mustang Mach-E GT

The Mustang Mach-E was a delayed entry to the 2021 model year but should be able to take off this year. This fully electric SUV offers 480 horsepower and a zero to 60 mph time of just 3.5 seconds. It may not look like the Mustangs of old, but it certainly has the power to live up to its name.

Updates Galore

Nearly every other vehicle in the Ford lineup received some impressive upgrades for 2022. For example, the Expedition earned some new LED headlights, taillights, and wheel options. The available 15.5-inch touchscreen isn’t a bad update either.

You’ll also see some new add-on packages available for most other SUVs. Drivers are especially drawn to the Black Appearance Package. Throw this on the Ford Edge, and you’ll enjoy 19-inch black wheels, all-season tires, black fender badging, body-color bumpers, black skid plates, and a black grille.
