The Last of the Last Call Dodge Challengers Is Here: And Sold For MSRP?

It’s usually a widely accepted practice. A highly sought-after special edition vehicle is finally available for pre-order. Some buyers who want it badly enough are willing to pay as much as double the sticker price, and some sellers are willing to sell it to them for that price. This leaves the average buyer who goes to an honest Dodge dealer unable to get models such as the Dodge Challenger Demon SRT at a fair price. Dodge’s CEO has a plan to keep this from happening.

There’s A Special Process for Challenger SRT Demon 170 Buyers

Dodge has an ordering process that’s been in place for its special edition models. But it’s a little different for this Challenger to keep the markups to a minimum. A document needs to be signed by both the buyer and the dealer and then notarized. Dodge won’t schedule a build until it receives the document, which states what the buyer paid for the vehicle. If they paid MSRP or under, the build will get priority scheduling. If they paid over, they’ll just have to wait. Buyers who pay extra will go to the end of the line, and their cars will be the last to come off the production line and make it to their Dodge dealer for pickup.

What is the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170?

The Challenger SRT Demon 170 is here, and it’s topping even the most powerful Challengers before it. If you thought 840 horsepower was unbeatable in a muscle car straight from the factory, then you were wrong. How does 1,025 horsepower and 945 pound-feet of torque sound?

The Last of the Last Call Dodge Challengers Is Here And Sold For MSRP

The SRT Demon 170 gets its name as a reference to 170 proof, as in alcohol proof. The maximum horsepower comes with ethanol fuel, which this muscle car has the ability to run on right from the production line.

What Is Really Under the Hood?

If you open up the hood of the Challenger SRT Demon 170, you’ll find a supercharged 6.2-liter V-8, but it’s different from the V-8’s of the past. It has a modified 3.0-liter supercharger, high-flow fuel injectors, and even upgraded spark plugs. Many of the changes are designed to cope with the extra cylinder pressure that comes with the added horsepower.

Want to talk some more numbers? This Challenger is the first production car that can run the quarter mile in under nine seconds without any modifications. It was officially timed at 8.91 seconds.

How Long Will Production Last?

Production of this last call Challenger will continue until December 31, 2023. If a buyer and Dodge dealer make a deal for a price over the MSRP, there is a chance that the car won’t get made if time runs out. The goal of the strategy was to prevent huge markups over the sticker price, and it appears to be working. The majority of the orders received for the Challenger SRT Demon 170 were for the sticker price.
