Hyundai is Looking for an Edge

Hyundai has officially entered into the running to create solid-state batteries. The field may be crowded, but we like their odds. The race to develop the solid-state batteries for vehicles is a heated one with many automakers working hard to create them. Right now, Toyota, Honda, Fisker, Nissan, BMW, and Volkswagen are all aiming to develop these batteries for the EV models they sell and Hyundai has joined the race. By partnering and investing in a company that’s based in Massachusetts, Hyundai is hoping to have these batteries form Ionic Materials in the near future to add them to the new EV models they’ve been working on, hopefully ahead of the rest of the crowd. While we put a concerted effort to creating lists of great accomplishments in the automotive world there are some instances when looking at those who prowl the bottom of the industry are worth the time and effort. Using information from Consumer Reports, automakers are judged based upon the lineup by ranking road test scores, predicted reliability, safety and owner satisfaction scores. With this information an educated ranking of the worst automakers can be accomplished, showing you what automakers have work to do to make it out of the basement and become one of the leaders in the industry, which some of these names have been in the past. More Capability in the Smaller Size

Jobs don’t seem to get any smaller for work crews and the ability to tow and haul whatever is needed has become a greater challenge. When gas prices were on the rise truck manufactures were looking for great ways to make their vehicles lighter and more efficient which unfortunately gave up some of the capabilities of the trucks. Is the Versa the Least Expensive Car in North America?

The Nissan Versa is a car that starts out its life at just $11,990 and is sold in the US as the least expensive car on the market. This price is nearly a throwback to the 1990s as most of the time you don’t see cars under $20,000 on sale here very often. While the Versa is a car that we can celebrate as the least expensive car we have there is one that is even lower in price that is sold in Canada but not here in the US at all. (more…)

The Teaser Revealed

About a month ago Nissan teased us with a shadowed view of a concept photo of what was expected to be a compact crossover SUV that would be revealed at the Frankfurt Auto Show.  While the photo did spurn a great deal of speculation about what the vehicle would be the real thing from a design standpoint is certainly more than could be expected.  This new concept that has been revealed is the Nissan Gripz Concept which is expected to eventually become a production model put Nissan well in the lead for sporty, mainstream, compact crossovers.
