New Mazda Cars Will Stop if Driver Suffers Health Problem

One of the most exciting elements of technological innovation you’ll see at your local Mazda dealer is the constantly improving safety features available on new Mazda vehicles. We’re already getting used to cars that can self-park, remind drivers to check their backseats, and automatically apply the brakes to avoid a collision. The future will continue this trend of safety transformation with the inclusion of tech that can actually tell if a driver has a health problem like a heart attack or stroke. (more…)

Toyota is Studying A Way for Cars to Talk to Pedestrians

People are certainly creatures of habit. We see a stop sign and we stop, we see a sign that tells us where to cross the street and we feel it’s safe to do so. We have specific, mostly predictable behaviors when we interact with traffic, our own vehicles, and pedestrians. As we move toward a world of automation, the need to ensure comfort with that automation is paramount. Toyota is working on cars that can autonomously operate in a polite and courteous manner to make sure pedestrians can feel safe around them. (more…)

Do You Know how to Load a Trailer?

When you have a vehicle that can haul a trailer you’ve given yourself a fantastic advantage on the road or trails over other vehicles that don’t have the ability to pull a trailer behind them. This means you can help move your friend’s stuff with just your truck, bring home a load of materials for the weekend project or take extra gear that you need with you when camping to the campsite. Danger on the Road and Track

Driving by nature can be dangerous, but when an automaker adds power and sells a car as a sports car you quickly find out that there is more to the danger than you thought. Most of us don’t want to feel as if we’re taking our own life with any disregard when we step into our car to head out for the day or to go to the track and these cars weren’t meant to make us feel any less safe than any others, but they certainly have been considered to be some of the most dangerous cars on the road for a variety of reasons. Can We Please Wake Up?

If you don’t think the world can see what you’re doing and read what you put on social media think again. For some reason there are several people in this world who actually admit to texting or using social media while driving and the NHTSA is onto them. So far, the NHTSA has taken to sending tweets to these people who admit to driving while distracted in this manner and the message they send is clear; stop texting, tweeting, posting or taking selfies while driving. The question I have regarding this is “how valuable is your life to you?” (more…)

Four A’s, One B Given to the Jeep Grand Cherokee Car Seat Assembly

SUVs are notorious for having less than stellar ratings for their infant seat compatibility. So much effort is put into designing for comfort that not enough attention is paid to the kids. After all, infants can't buy vehicles and shoppers aren't always sure how to make sure their car seats are secure. The 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee scored perfectly on its ratings from Cars.com, other than getting a "B" rating for their booster seat compatibility. This is to be expected; booster seats have always been a challenge for car makers due to the strange way that seat belts must work with them while still being comfortable for adults in the back seat. External Airbags? Why Didn’t I Think Of That?

The race is on for tech companies like Google, Apple, and others to build their own driverless vehicle. Google has prototypes, and it is rumoured that Apple does as well. Safety has been a big concern when it comes to the self-driving vehicles, with many arguing that it isn’t safe. Google has set out to prove those critics wrong by creating a completely safe vehicle for both passengers, pedestrians, and bicyclists. How you may ask? By adding external airbags to the car. It seems like an ingenious idea. Airbags have been standard of new cars, trucks, and SUV’s for many years now on the interior of the vehicles, why not on the exterior. Think how this could change driving as we know it today. With soft pillowy airbags on the exterior of the cars, it could cushion the accident and leav...
