More Power Equals Faster Race Times in the Challenger

One of the most talked about cars on the market today is the Dodge Challenger. Ever since FCA put a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine under the hood of the Challenger and called it a Hellcat we’ve been in awe of this car. The first offering of this model is called the Hellcat and it’s able to offer us as much as 707 horsepower in order to give us the power we want for the ride at the track or on the road. This was the crown jewel of the Dodge lineup until it was improved upon and it is ready to race.

Ready to Race

For the 2018 model year, the Dodge team unleashed an even greater level of hell on the market with the new Challenger SRT Demon. This car was one we watched and waited for over a long period of time to be a model that would offer us more power. With items that were tweaked and improved to create a car that could make use of 840 horsepower when powered by race fuel, the new Demon became a car that’s so fast it can’t even be used in drag races without adding a roll cage and other safety equipment.

Going Head to Head in Challengers

While the Dodge Challenger team likely doesn’t want to have a race between its top two models until it’s dispensed with many of the other drag race machines on the market, the video below shows a Demon and Hellcat going head to head on the drag strip. Even without race gas, the Demon makes 808 horsepower while using 93 octane fuel to go up against the 707 ponies coming out of the hood of the Hellcat model to make this an intense and interesting race that’s fun to see.
In the video, both cars are completely stock and running on the same tires, which means the Hellcat receives an upgrade in the tires while the Demon runs on the ones that come from the factory. You’ll see a great launch for both cars as they get off the line quick and head down the track to show off the performance each car offers. The visual differences between the two cars make it easy to see which car will likely win the race and be the one to continue to be the king of the Challengers at the track.
Once the race begins, it’s over in a short period of time. The Dodge Challenger Hellcat is able to run across the finish line in a respectable time of 11.09 seconds at 124 mph to be one of the fastest quarter-mile times you’ll see. Unfortunately for the Hellcat, the Demon was able to run the same distance in 10.07 seconds and reached 133 mph in the quarter-mile to show off what this car can do. Check out the video below and be amazed by the raw and awesome power of both cars that make their way to the other end of the track extremely quickly.
