Kia EV5 Concept Reveal Mimics Kia Telluride, Offers a Futuristic Appeal

As the globe’s leading automakers go electric, Kia is wasting no time becoming an industry leader. Kia has unveiled an impressive EV lineup thus far with its sporty EV6 and full-sized EV9 SUV. Its newest EV5 model is still in concept mode, but their latest reveal positions itself as a worthy contender when it comes to electric SUVs.

The all-new EV5 concept is positioned to be the automaker’s fully electric mid-size SUV. Touting a futuristic yet familiar body style and that same great Kia power drivers have grown to love, the EV5 will undoubtedly be an electric SUV drivers should keep their eye on.

Don’t go heading to your Kia car dealer just yet as this model is not available to the American public, or anyone else for that matter. First revealed during the Kia Chinese EV Day event, the EV5 is quickly generating a familiar buzz for its anticipated release later this year. Until then, Kia has unveiled its concept car via an eight-photo gallery. Let’s get into the nitty-gritty of what this
all-new electric SUV has to offer.

A Familiar Design

If you catch a glimpse of the EV5 at just the right angle, you might mistake it for a Kia Telluride. The EV5 incorporates similar features that give off the vibes of the automaker’s luxurious Telluride. A bold side paneling, a simplified yet commanding grill, and sleek curving on the front are very reminiscent of the Telluride. The stark difference is the EV5’s futuristic appeal found in
today’s EV models.

The EV5 has a sleek frame, yet commands an air of aggression, making this model one of the best-designed EV body styles yet. The front grille touts Kia’s Signature “Digital Tiger Face” grill, a trademarked design feature that has grown to be unmistakably Kia. Meanwhile, the wheelbase frame is robust and bold, a stark difference from the rest of the vehicle. Plus, the blacked-out geometric 21-inch wheels offer a really unique look.

Experience a Futuristic Cabin Design

Stepping inside the driver’s seat offers an experience few automakers can deliver. The cabin is sleek, futuristic, and simplified to the max as shown in the concept release gallery. However, it’s likely that this simplified feel of the concept will be more akin to the functional feel of the EV9.

The EV5 will likely debut in a similar cabin as the EV9. A wide digital cluster and a sleek infotainment system take over the dash while both driver and passenger have an open view of the road ahead. Rear-hinged doors, a panoramic sunroof, and spacious cargo hold are just some of the other features you can find in the EV5.

While the concept photos are undeniably cool, they are all rendered images rather than real-life photographs. Still, the gallery images provide a nice framework of anticipation drivers can look forward to.

Kia EV5 Set to Debut in China

If you are ready to get your hands on the Kia EV5 Concept, you’re not going to want to head to your local Kia car dealer just yet. This concept EV SUV will initially be sold in China later this year. If successful, the automaker will extend offerings to other global markets as well. Even then, Variations for North American markets may likely differ from variations intended for the Asian market.
