2025 Jeep Wagoneer S EV: Bold Jeep Electric SUV Driving

2025 Jeep Wagoneer S EV: Bold Jeep Electric SUV Driving

A new electric top dog in the Jeep lineup is on the way. The 2025 Jeep Wagoneer S EV could be everything we want in a big, bold electric SUV.

Jeep allowed a production-ready version of this new electric SUV to be leaked, which could reveal expected details of the upcoming model. This new Jeep will use the Stellantis STLA Large vehicle platform, which is versatile enough to support combustion, hybrid, and all-electric vehicles. The new Wagoneer S EV should utilize an 800-volt architecture and will add another version of the Wagoneer name, which has exploded into four different versions in the past few years.

Going smaller makes perfect sense

Instead of hitting the market in three-row form, like its ICE namesakes, Jeep will use the S moniker to signify that this new electric SUV is smaller than the others. This model should be the size of the current two-row Grand Cherokee and made to compete with the Land Rover Range Rover Sport. Wearing the Wagoneer name means it should reach premium quality levels with upscale features and items that make it stand out in a crowd. A signature element of this new electric SUV is the LED-lit grille, which is consistent with the Jeep brand.

Hints at new Jeep styling elements

Early leaked images of the new Jeep Wagoneer S EV showed some changes to the styling of this new SUV. These images showed a new set of headlights and an upgraded grille that could give this vehicle the styling signature that’s carried forward for future Jeep EV models. The body has significantly improved lines that weren’t present when this SUV was shown as a concept model. These upgrades give us the idea that the Wagoneer S EV might be ready to hit the assembly line in the near future.

Other upgrades include a radar sensor in the front, which helps with the ADAS systems, and a revised tailgate with new Jeep badging. This is a change in the Wagoneer lineup, as the larger models don’t wear any Jeep badging on them. The large rear roof air blade should aid in improving the aerodynamics of this impressive electric SUV, but the plunging roofline cuts into the cargo area. This could become a contentious aspect of this new electric Jeep SUV.

Does the new Jeep EV have enough driving range?

The STLA-Large platform is expected to be good enough to give vehicles up to 500 miles of driving range. The new Jeep Wagoneer S EV should offer as much as 400 miles of range but could have more if provided with the largest battery pack. This new SUV could accelerate to 60 mph in as little as 3.5 seconds and have up to 600 horsepower from the dual-motor setup. This two-motor layout should mean the Wagoneer S EV is an AWD vehicle, which would be consistent with what Jeep typically offers. Still, it wouldn’t be hard to imagine a single-motor RWD version offered in future model years.

This platform is capable of supporting battery packs that range from 85 to 118 kWh and offer up to 11.3 inches of ground clearance. This new Jeep Wagoneer S EV might not need the maximum clearance, but it could be offered in the most hardcore off-road versions.

Expected comforts in the cabin

When you hear the name Wagoneer, a specific level of quality is expected. This name has returned to the market as a luxury-laden sub-brand of Jeep, positioning two models at the top of the lineup. With this in mind, the smaller, two-row S EV version needs to continue with upscale driving qualities and ample comfort in the cabin.

The interior could feature a 19-speaker McIntosh audio system, multicolor ambient lighting elements, and upscale leather upholstery to give this SUV everything desired. A digital gauge cluster, dual central touchscreens, and a passenger-facing touchscreen could make this SUV an impressive driving package and provide some of the tech and comfort desired. You should also expect to see the attractive two-spoke steering wheel that’s become a signature element of the Wagoneer.

This isn’t the Grand model

Don’t confuse the new 2024 Jeep Wagoneer S EV with the upcoming Grand Wagoneer 4xe. These two SUVs are significantly different. Jeep intends to give the Grand Wagoneer a plug-in hybrid powertrain that should provide up to 500 miles of driving range from the combined gas engine and electric system.

The new Wagoneer S EV is an all-electric SUV with two rows of seats that should be available by the end of 2025. Could this new electric Jeep be the SUV you’ve been waiting to drive?
