Astonishing Speed and Power
The 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 features a twin-turbo 5.5L V-8, giving it a substantial power boost over the last ZR1, which was manufactured in 2019. The newest Corvette to wear the badge tops out at speeds exceeding 215 mph, but that’s not the only difference.

What’s the Secret Behind the ZR1?
The Corvette ZR1’s LT7 engine resembles the Z06’s LT6. The engine unlocks more power by using eight forged pistons to spin a flat-plane crankshaft. A higher-revving engine of this sort can create issues with side-to-side vibrations, but the team thought of that, too.
The 5.5L flat-plane-crank V-8 is much larger and more powerful than the 4.5L displacement, widely considered to constitute the upper limit of the technology’s power. However, using twin turbos instead of a supercharger keeps inertia low.
The 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1’s torque peaks at 828 lb-ft at 6,000 rpm, but the engine doesn’t redline until 8,000 rpm. The result is a supercar that puts speed first but also generates quite a stir in the stands. The LT7 engine puts out a deep, impressive growl.
When to Expect the ZR1 at Car Dealerships
Those who have been lucky enough to test drive the 2025 Corvette ZR1 already consider it the ultimate Corvette, but it will be a while before they hit car dealerships around the country. Chevrolet plans to release the new ZR1 in the middle of 2025.
Currently, the design team still has some work to do. While the performance of the LT7 engine is already on point, some aspects still need to be addressed, such as engine cooling, and the design team can’t do it with the car in camouflage.
The ZR1 already sacrifices potential frunk storage space to create a low-pressure air pocket over the heat extractor using a vertical wicker on the hood. Two holes in the fender tops also feed cool air directly into the ZR1’s airboxes, but the Chevy indicates that there’s still some work to do.
