A Five-Cylinder You Can Love

Most of the time the cylinder numbers in our vehicles come in even numbers. This allows for the balanced firing of pistons to help avoid the vibrations that would reach the cabin and cause driving to be unbearable. Much like the advancements that are being made in the world of turbocharging and added horsepower while creating lighter vehicles, now we have vehicles that are more capable of using an odd number of cylinders while still returning some great power and performance to give you the feeling you want in a car that has an odd cylinder setup. 2017 Porsche Macan: The Sporty SUV You Want

We have seen many varieties of vehicles on the market and with the move toward smaller SUVs that are closer in size to the wagon and sedans we’re used to driving we now see SUVs that are being turned into sports cars, or at least a derivative of the sports car market. The Porsche Macan is built on a sports car platform, by a sports car brand to be an SUV that offers you the space you want in a taller vehicle but the capability of a Porsche sports car. This blend is exactly what we want in the market and with Porsche having the first one they are well ahead of Jaguar with the F-Pace and Maserati with the Levante. (more…)

When You Get Excited About Engines

If you love grease under your nails and the smell of fumes around the garage you might be a gearhead. If you happen to enjoy the turning f a wrench and understand what compression ratios mean in an engine you might be a gearhead. When you’re more likely to give your wife a small block V8 for her birthday than a necklace you might be a gearhead (and a soon to be divorced one unless your wife’s a gearhead as well). (more…)

Another Model We Don’t Get

This is getting a bit ridiculous? European automakers have for years left out the US when it comes to some of their models, usually because of the stricter regulations that have to be met to be offered on our roads. It seems that cars which are smaller wouldn’t have a problem functioning in the US, but Audi has a car that once again won’t be offered to the North American market. This should come as no real surprise since the stablemates aren’t either. This new model is the RS1 and it is expected to be sold in Europe starting in 2018. (more…)

2017 Mazda CX-3: Fun Where You Expect It

The Mazda lineup is full of vehicles that are made to be fun to drive. Each and every one of them is built with the ideal driving dynamics for that particular vehicle and when you want an SUV that’ small and active the CX-3 is the right choice. The CX-3 is as close to the Miata as you can get in the SUV market and gives you the rear space you won’t find in the roadster, but want to have in a subcompact SUV that leads the way in a segment that’s quickly becoming overcrowded. A Smart Choice in the Audi Lineup

Driving an Audi gives you the exceptional German luxury experience you want from a lineup of vehicles that have the most impressive interiors on the market. As we discuss higher power and more agility on the roads it seems the idea of more fuel mileage in the luxury segments has gone by the wayside in order to have vehicles that are powerful and able to carve up the road. Someone at Audi was wise enough to take a step back and assess the situation to notice there’s room for at least one more A4 model. (more…)

Any Sign of Weakness can Cause and Attack

Watch the nature shows on TV and you will see exactly what happens when an animal is targeted a prey and shows a sign of weakness. As soon as its back is turned or its defenses are down the predator strikes and strikes hard causing severe injuries to the victim which often results in the death of the prey. This is the natural order of things in the wild regardless of how gruesome it may seem and is even an example of what can happen in the business world when one competitor falls from their platform. 2017 BMW X3: Sport and Activity

BMW is determined to redefine the classifications we’re used to for vehicles. Whatever happened to the days when you had sports cars, trucks, vans, cars and SUVs? Now ever category appears to have numerous sub-categories causing some confusion and avoiding any form of direct competition among the vehicles offered. The BMW X3 is a great example of what the brand is attempting to do to the market. This isn’t an SUV or even a CUV, it’s an SAV which stands for Sport Activity Vehicle and is probably the right name for what the X3 happens to be. (more…)

The Small Differences of the BMW M2

There has been a lot of chatter around regarding the M2 from BMW. This car is one that came on the scene as an expected top performer in the market of great driving vehicles, but some feel it’s not quite up to par with what was expected. While we can relive the glory days of the best driving machines on the market, making them more efficient and agile is a task that creates a completely different feeling in these cars than ever before. To put it simply, we can’t build cars today like we used to, but we can still build some great cars. (more…)

The Battle at the Top

When it comes to the flagship vehicles of different manufacturers the expectation is that you have a vehicle which gives you every feature and benefit the manufacturer can think of and add. This is certainly what you get when you look at the Lexus LS and the BMW 7-Series, but which one of these two flagship sedans is the one you want to drive the most? Are you more enticed by the Japanese style and modern features of the Lexus or are you more apt to lean toward the longstanding performance and perfection of the German engineering contained in the BMW model? Let’s look at them both. (more…)
