One of the Longest Running Races Evolved

It’s easy enough to admire the history of the automobile as we moved from horse-drawn carriages to vehicles powered by a combustion engine. Danger on the Road and Track

Driving by nature can be dangerous, but when an automaker adds power and sells a car as a sports car you quickly find out that there is more to the danger than you thought. Most of us don’t want to feel as if we’re taking our own life with any disregard when we step into our car to head out for the day or to go to the track and these cars weren’t meant to make us feel any less safe than any others, but they certainly have been considered to be some of the most dangerous cars on the road for a variety of reasons. Continuing to Die Out

Over the past several years we have seen something start to happen that is a huge part of the future of the automotive industry. We are witnessing a transition away from the manual transmission. This is due to the dynamics of the automatics that are being made and the way they can provide smoother shifting at the right times along with the efficiency we want when it comes to the miles per gallon we would like to receive. Taking the Race to the Street

Time and again we see the automakers of some of the highest level supercars in the world take inspiration from the track and create cars that probably shouldn’t be driven on the streets, but are legal to drive on the street. Why shouldn’t these cars be on the streets? Not because they are going to careen out of control, but because they are being held back by the rules of the road and the congestion that is created in traffic. When a car is street legal but built to be a racing machine you can bet it’s not going to lose control with the low speeds and slow curves of the road, but take one of these beauties to the track and you will see what it can do. Can We Please Wake Up?

If you don’t think the world can see what you’re doing and read what you put on social media think again. For some reason there are several people in this world who actually admit to texting or using social media while driving and the NHTSA is onto them. So far, the NHTSA has taken to sending tweets to these people who admit to driving while distracted in this manner and the message they send is clear; stop texting, tweeting, posting or taking selfies while driving. The question I have regarding this is “how valuable is your life to you?” (more…)

You Won’t Believe the Sales

With 2015 behind us and a quarter of 2016 gone we now get a chance to look back at the sales that were 2015. This past year was the strongest year ever in the automotive industry. More cars were sold than in any one year previously and you might think that every car had a banner year, but you would be wrong. For an unfortunate few models sales did not reach anywhere near the goals set by the manufacturer, even though these models were good cars and offered features that should have attracted more customers. Even though not all of us hate the V8 engines of the 1970s, the fact that our parents had to put up with the low power numbers that were supposed to come out of the largest engines on the market.
