2017 Mitsubishi Outlander: Checking Off Boxes For You

11.15.16 - Mitsubishi Outlander

The Mitsubishi name has taken several hits lately, but these haven’t affected the most successful segment of their lineup, the SUV models. The Outlander is one of the most useful SUVs you’ll find on the market today and it makes an effort to check off lots of boxes to be the ride you want to enjoy. Does this SUV offer a variety of engines; yes it does. Can you have the Outlander with AWD; absolutely. Is there a great warranty; yup. Is there a towing capacity that makes a difference; you betcha. Are you able to take seven people off road in this vehicle; of course.

With so many ways the Outlander checks off the boxes you need to mark off and answers all your questions, it’s hard to image a vehicle that can give you more for the money than this great crossover SUV. This is a vehicle that offers the benefits of being able to have an adventure on the weekend, tow the trailer during the week, pick the kids up from activities all week long, all while providing you with the impressive fuel mileage and powertrains that you want to enjoy on the road in this SUV.

For 2017 this SUV is upgraded quite a bit. You can enjoy the benefit of a simplified AWD system on the base model and added items such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This vehicle also brings in blind spot warnings, rear cross traffic alerts, a heated steering wheel, automatic high beams and a multi view camera system, which are all added to the Outlander for 2017. These advanced safety features make the cut when it comes to the favorite items offered on this vehicle, especially when you add adaptive cruise control to the mix as one of the items that’s used and needed the most.

Since we’re already looking at the features, let’s see what the standard offerings are. The Outlander is brought to you in four trims; ES, SE, SEL and GT. The base ES trim offers automatic climate control, keyless entry, a six-speaker touchscreen audio system, a rearview camera, Bluetooth connectivity, heated side mirrors and 18-inch alloy wheels. Moving up to the SE adds fog lights, dual zone climate controls, heated front seats and push button starting. The SEL brings you leather upholstery and a power driver’s seat while the GT adds the Super All Wheel Control (S-AWC), a V6 engine, a power liftgate, a 710 Rockford Fosgate audio system, automatic headlights, power folding mirrors and rain sensing windshield wipers.

Two engines are offered on this SUV, starting with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder model that gives you 166 horsepower and 162 lb.-ft. of torque. This engine is found on all models except the GT and gives you 25 city/30 hwy mpg in FWD models and 24 city/29 hwy mpg in the AWD version of the vehicle. With this smaller engine you can enjoy 1,500 pounds of towing capacity. The 3.0-liter V6 is offered for the GT models and brings you 224 horsepower and 215 lb.-ft. of torque. This model is able to tow up to 3,500 pounds without any problem and makes for a great powertrain for you to enjoy.

Looking at options is a great way to make the Outlander be even more of the SUV you want it to be. This list includes items such as the safety suite we discussed earlier along with items such as a navigation system, rain sensing windshield wipers, windshield wiper de-icer, the Rockford Fosgate audio system, power folding side mirrors, automatic headlights, a power tailgate, a heated steering wheel and a power sunroof.

One items we haven’t discussed is the warranty, which is a ten year/100,000 mile version on the powertrain that makes it easy for you to have the protection you want in a vehicle that’s right for you to drive. The Outlander certainly is an SUV that makes it easy for you to have everything you need in an SUV in one package. This vehicle drives great and is perfect for the whole family to head out on a great adventure in the wilderness where you can find a great new location to be your favorite spot for camping, fishing or just relaxing during the days you don’t have to work.
