Will Ford Turn the Mach E into Something?

Will Ford Turn the Mach E into Something?

Ford filed a trademark for the Mach E name as “motor vehicles, and structural parts, fittings, and badges” which is difficult to decipher.

Trademark filings by automakers leave us with several ideas of what might be in store for a brand. The Mach 1 was a name used in the past and we thought the name would be used on an electrified car, but unless the Mach Eis a variation of the Mustang, it won’t be used on a car at all.

We Only Know it Will be a Crossover

The previous and often discussed announcement from Ford allowed us to know that the brand would no longer build cars at all in the near future. The brand has turned its sights on being heavy on SUV models and pickup trucks with the only car being kept is the Mustang. That means every name filed and every expectation we have of Ford for the future is that a model will simply be either a crossover SUV or a variation of the Mustang sports car that we want to experience when we drive.

The E Should be for Electricity

When, and if, the Mach E name becomes anything at all for us to drive, it will likely become an EV model that will become the right model for our driving on the road. The Mach E will possibly become the first of the electric SUV models that will make its way to the market for us to drive. There’s little doubt that electricity is the future of propulsion for vehicles and Ford is working hard to enter that area with models that will arrive in only a few short years, giving us the idea that we might have a Mach E for the future.

Other Possibilities for Ford

Because Ford has decided to place their entire focus on SUVs and pickup trucks, they may have their sights set on the Jeep market, especially targeting the Wrangler. The news that a new Bronco will return and the photos of the “baby Bronco” that surfaced recently give the impression that Ford is ready to offer us more off-road models than ever before to give us the right vehicle for the fun we want to have. With Jeep passing one million units sold with a lineup that’s entirely made of SUVs, this could be the target for Ford.

Expect More in the Future

The future of Ford is a cloudy and confusing one. The team refuses to bring us the Ranger Raptor in America, but they are working toward a stronger lineup of SUVs to give us more of the models we want. There won’t be a Ford sedan on the market in the near future, but we may see different Mustang models. As for the Mach E, that will remain a mystery until we find out more from the Ford team about what they intend to use the name for.
