2021 Ford Escape – What Makes It So Popular?

The 2021 Ford Escape has quickly become one of the most popular compact and crossover SUVs on the market today. In fact, it ranks at number four for compact SUVs and at number 10 for crossover SUVs. For SUVs with two rows of seats, it ranks number seven by U.S. News & World Report. So, what is it that makes the Ford Escape so popular?

Impressive Cargo Space

Since the Ford Escape is only available with two rows of seats, larger families likely aren’t purchasing this vehicle. This SUV is perfect for married couples, individuals, people with pets, and those with one or two children.

The cargo space in the Ford Escape comes in at a total of 65.4 cubic feet if the second row of seats is flattened. If you need the second row of seats, you can position them to obtain either 33.5 or 37.5 cubic feet of space in the cargo area.

Child Car Seat Connections in the 2021 Ford Escape

As mentioned earlier, the Ford Escape can be used by smaller families. It only seats five people and does so comfortably. However, if you have car seats installed, you might want to avoid stuffing five people into this SUV.

There are two LATCH connections in the second row of seats for child car seats. If you choose to install the car seat in the middle seat of the second row there is a tether behind the seats and an anchor can be used from either outboard seat to secure the car seat.

Technology Doesn’t Take a Hit

When Ford decided to redesign the Escape it made sure that technology wouldn’t take a hit. The SUV features the SYNC 3 system, which is very easy to use.

The standard infotainment features in the Ford Escape include:

  • 4.2-inch display
  • USB port
  • Bluetooth
  • Six-speaker stereo

The available infotainment features for an upgrade include:

  • 8-inch touch screen
  • Apple CarPlay
  • Android Auto
  • Wi-Fi hot spot
  • Navigation
  • 10-speaker Bang & Olufsen stereo
  • Satellite radio

Additional features available with an upgrade include:

  • Proximity keyless entry
  • Push-button start
  • Remote start
  • A panoramic moonroof
  • Automatic climate control

How Does the Gas Mileage Stand Up?

The EPA has released its gas mileage ratings for the 2021 Ford Escape. The 1.5-liter 3-cylinder model that features front-wheel drive has a gas mileage rating of 27 MPG in the city, 33 MPG on the highway, and 30 MPG combined.

If you opt for the all-wheel-drive model, you will see a gas mileage of 26 MPG in the city, 31 MPG on the highway, and 28 MPG combined.

The 2021 Ford Escape is Perfect for Small Families

Whether you have a dog, one child, or simply need a little more cargo space in your vehicle; the 2021 Ford Escape is an excellent choice for your new vehicle. It’s safe, features strong gas mileage, and can have child seats installed. Take one for a test drive today.
