Bang For Your Buck: Kia Rio

Bang For Your Buck: Kia Rio

Value means you’re getting more for your money than you might expect. You’ll find exceptional value when you drive the Kia Rio.

This little car has been around for a while and it has been one of the most affordable and feature-rich subcompact cars in the market during that time. Choose this little car and enjoy the quality offered that can be perfect for the drive you make every day.

Choices to Give You More

There are two body styles offered for the Rio. You can enjoy either a small sedan or a five-door hatchback that can make driving right for you. The sedan is the more affordable model, but if you need a versatile cargo area in the rear, the hatchback should be the body style you consider. Get in and test drive either of these two models and find the one that’s right for you.

The Class has Shrunk

The subcompact car class, in which the Kia Rio resides, has shrunk over the past couple of years. We no longer see the Toyota Yaris and Honda Fit being offered. This leaves this class with the Hyundai Accent, Nissan Versa, Chevrolet Spark, and Mitsubishi Mirage. The Spark may be gone very soon too, which will only leave a few of these models. Can you think of one of these cars that’s better than the Rio? We didn’t think so.

The Warranty Makes You Smile

One factor this little Kia offers that is only shared with its sibling model in the Hyundai Accent is the warranty offered. You’ll have the benefits of a five-year/60,000-mile basic warranty and a ten-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty for you to have the protection you’re looking for. Enjoy the peace of mind that comes with this coverage and know that you’re going to have a great drive for a long time.

Three Trim Levels to Choose From

The Kia Rio is offered in the sedan body style at the LX and S trim levels and is only offered at the S trim level for the hatchback. If you’re looking to spend the absolute least you can, the LX sedan is what you want to drive. This version gives you power windows, power locks, heated side mirrors, 15-inch steel wheels, cloth upholstery, a seven-inch infotainment screen, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, and a USB port.

Move into the S trim for the sedan and you’ll add the benefits of remote keyless entry, cruise control, a front center armrest, 60/40 split/folding rear seats, adjustable rear headrests, and a rear-seat USB charging port. If you select the hatchback, you’ll have the rear hatch and a rear window wiper/washer added to the build to give you a couple more items for your drive.

Consider the Options For this Car

You can add a few items to your Kia Rio and have more for the drive. The main package to consider is the Technology package. This package can only be added to the S trim levels, but it is well worth the added price.

The Technology Package includes:

•Forward-collision warning

•Lane-keeping/lane departure warning

•Lane-following assistance

•Automatic high beams

•4.2-inch driver information display

•LED headlights

•Satellite radio

•Push-button starting

•Automatic climate controls

•Tire pressure monitoring

•Rear occupant alert

•15-inch alloy wheels

There are a couple of items that can be added to the LX trim which include a self-dimming rearview mirror, Aurora Black Pearl paint, and a universal garage door opener.

The Singular Powertrain of the Kia Rio

Every model of the Rio is powered by a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 120 horsepower and 112 lb.-ft. of torque. This engine is attached to a CVT that feels like a naturally-geared transmission. You’ll enjoy the fuel savings offered for this car which comes in at 33 city/41 hwy mpg when you take it out on the road.

How Much Will You Spend?

We’re talking about giving you the most bang for your buck, which comes down to the soup and nuts of what the price will be.

•Base LX Sedan -$16,050

•S Sedan -$16,690

•S Hatchback -$17,995

•Technology Package -$1,800

You can easily stay around the $20,000 mark and have everything this little car has to offer.

Will You Drive the Kia Rio?

With excellent fuel mileage, an amazing list of features, and the quality you find in a Kia, how could you turn down the Rio? If you’re looking for a car that doesn’t break your budget while giving you an easy ride toand from work every day, this is the car that gives you the most bang for your buck.
